Altona is set for a day of family fun on Saturday 10th March, with free activities to be held on Logan Reserve precinct.
Altona Community Bank® Branch is a proud sponsor of the event, and will again participate in the Parade
Altona Community Bank® Manager, Nuran Umit, said “This is a popular family event that celebrates the community” Mrs Umit said.
‘‘Our Community Bank®branchis very proud to be able to again sponsor the Double Decker Bus Historical tour of Altona, and provide the SES with their sausages for their famous BBQ. We are also the major sponsor of the Men’s Shed Classic Car display to be held at Apex Park.’’
Altona Traders Liaison Officer, Sharon Walsh, said the first Beach Festival was a great success in 2011 and this year promises to be another great event to showcase beautiful Altona.
‘’There are many great activities for the family including Devonshire teas in the historic Altona Homestead, Live music and theatre, market stalls, Double Decker bus rides, children’s workshops, RAAF museum fly over, street parade and fireworks,’’ Ms Walsh said.
Community Bank® branches Bendigo Bank, recently announced a project that will saturate the Hobsons Bay and Wyndham communities with over 88 automated defibrillation units. This project is supported by the Defib Your Club for Life program.
A Defib information tent will be at the festival for the community to come and find out more on the project and how the automated Defib units work.
“A defibrillator is the most important life saving piece of equipment any club or group can have,” Mrs Umit said.
“The fact is that one in 1000 people have an underlying cardiac condition and don’t know it.
‘’And for every one minute that elapses after collapse, the chance of survival falls by 10 per cent, so by the 10 minute mark your chance of survival has significantly diminished,” she said.
“Thanks to local customers, our Community Bank®branches can support important programs like Defib Your Club for Life for the benefit of our whole community,’’ she said.
Over the last eleven years, Altona, Point Cook, Laverton/Altona Meadows Community Bank®branches have injected more than $1.7 million into the Altona, Point Cook and Laverton communities.
