Mission: The house is and does what people want and need.

The Laverton Community Centre and Neighbourhood House Inc. was established in 1974 by the Laverton Rotary Club. The Centre currently operates from 3 buildings within a community precinct located on the corner of Railway Avenue and Crown Street, Laverton. The Centre provides a broad range of programs which reflect the community's needs and which are identified using a community development model. The State Government currently has a program which is designed to help re-develop current neighbourhood houses to better meet the needs of the local community. Initiatives that have been identified for the Laverton Community Centre and Neighbourhood House are to provide additional classroom space, meet O H & S concerns for staff and provide better disabled access to the wide range of accredited and non-accredited programs including English as a Second Language and numeracy and literacy programs that are delivered through the centre.

The various programs and services that the Centre offers are:

Accredited and Non-accredited courses such as computers, Microsoft Office, ESL/Literacy, Interior Design, Genealogy, gentle exercise and meditation, yoga, pilates, calligraphy, floral art, hospitality, Business Services Training package, Financial Services Training package, Information and Communications Technology Training package.

Venue for Hire
There are various rooms available for hire from 5 people to a hall that fits 150 people. For information about the venue and costs or to look at the facilitites contact Alex 9369 2726.

Groups and Services
Crisis intervention counsellor is available at the centre on Monday and Wednesday. For an appointment ring 9369 4866.

Community Cafe
The Crown Street Cafe offers 3 course meals on Wednesday and Thursday 11.30am - 2pm to concession card holders for only $4.00 or for non-concession card holders for $7.00. Bookings are essential 9369 4866.

Youth Drop in Centre
The Youth Drop in Centre is open Thursday and Friday 3.30pm to 6.00pm at 54 Woods Street Laverton. All youth are welcome and there are various activities on offer to them including playing pool and using the computers.

Weight Watchers
Weight Watchers meetings are held at the Laverton Community Centre on the corner of Crown Street and Railway Avenue, Laverton on Tuesday nights from 7pm. You can drop in on the night or call 13 19 97.

Rock and Roll Group
If you are looking to rock and roll but not sure of all the steps the Laverton Civic Complex holds classes each Wednesday night from 7pm. Classes are $12 per session and are relaxed, fun and social. For more information call 0403 607 318.

Laverton Youth Boxing Centre
The Laverton Youth Boxing operates from the Laverton Guides Hall on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. For more information contact Sammy Demour (Registered Trainer) on 0425 716 905.

Sunrise Womens Support Group
The group is open to all women with disabilities and meets in Room 1 at the Laverton Community Education Centre 12 Crown Street on the 1st Friday of each month. Meetings are free. Contact Lindy at Womens Health West for further information on 9689 9588.

Laverton Mosaics Group
The Laverton mosaics group meets every Tuesday from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at the Laverton Community Education Centre. By participating you can help create a mosaic piece for your local Community or create something for home or a gift. Contact Lilly on 0417 139 445.

Laverton Community Children's Centre Inc is a multicare approved service which is designed to provide a range of flexible care types and advocates for affordable and accessible care to the whole family. Our service is an intergrated model providing types of care that include but are not restricted to:

There are a diverse range of programmes and services that are targeted at those who are disadvantaged, a focus that reflects both social justice and community needs. All programs and services will have a community development focus. The centre provides emotional support and resources for the alleviation of poverty, distress, misfortune, destitutuin and helplessness.

Volunteers are needed at the centre, one can help out with reception dutes, gardening and maintenance, at the community care or the emergency relief program. There is also the annual Laverton Festival; members of the local community are encouraged to get involved in planning, developement and co-ordinating of the festival.
